Admission of new members

A complete application requires filling in the application form and attaching the following documents (files in pdf, jpeg or tif format):

  • An up-to-date, detailed and signed curriculum vitae, in Portuguese, stating: all completed higher-education degrees and their dates, the degree in which the applicant is enrolled and the current academic year, relevant professional experience with start and end dates and the organisations for which urban planning services were provided, technical or scientific publications, and any other information relevant to this purpose;
  • Copy of the diplomas of completed higher-education degrees and/or proof of enrolment in the current academic year (as applicable);
  • Proof of payment of the annual fee for the current year, by bank transfer to IBAN PT50 0035 0373 00012551830 67 / BIC SWIFT CGDIPTPL.

The annual fee is €60, due at the start of each year. It gives free access or meaningful discounts to several technical activities (congresses, debates and others), as well as the chance to take part in the life of APU, to receive regular information about events organised by other bodies, technical information, and the exchange of experience and knowledge.

Only academic qualifications proved by a copy of the relevant diplomas are considered. APU may ask for evidence of information in the CV, in particular professional experience in urban and/or spatial planning, where that information is not publicly available.

Completing this form takes 7 to 8 minutes.

Applications for new members that are approved and submitted by 19 October 2025 (inclusive) entitle the new member to a welcome book, chosen at the end of the form and subject to the stock available for each title.

Panel of urban planning experts

The panel of urban planning experts responds to requests for experts in urban and spatial planning, the fields in which members specialise. It is a group of urban planners available to answer those requests.

The panel lets any organisation quickly identify an urban planner it may wish to call on. APU should then be contacted for further information. Being on the panel does not prevent the urban planner from being contacted directly by the organisation, without any involvement of APU.
